Walnut Creek: Handel – Rivers of Inspiration Presented by California Symphony
November 11 - November 12

A world premiere, a Baroque classic, and a symphonic journey by the Rhine converge in waves of lush melodies on this water-inspired program.
George Frideric Handel – Water Music, Suites No. 1 and No. 2
Robert Schumann – Symphony No. 3 (Rhenish)
WHAT’S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS CONCERT
- Composed in a little over a month, Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 was inspired by a happy, peaceful trip to the Rhineland with his wife beloved wife, Clara.
- Handel’s Water Music is jolly, jaunty, and packed with catchy tunes. When it premiered at an outdoor concert on London’s River Thames, King George I liked it so much he commanded the musicians to play it through three times over.
- Chance of Rain by 2020-2023 resident composer Viet Cuong receives its highly anticipated world premiere.
Running Time: approx. 1 hour 55 minutes, with one intermission
