The “Dog” (and Cat) Days of Summer!
Hot, summer weather is here, yippee! Fun for everyone? Well, maybe not for your four-legged friends. Summer heat can be dangerous for your pets. Here’s some tips I’ve found to help keep your dog, cat, even bunnies safe and happy during hot summer days:
Be mindful of their outdoor play areas. Make sure your dog or cat has a shaded area with cool water while they’re out in the sun.
Avoid peak heat hours outdoors! Signs of a pet overheating are excessive panting, drooling or body weakness.
Watch out for summer pesticide exposure. Many have toxic chemicals for your furry friends.
The ASPCA recommends keeping your animals away from citronella candles and tiki torches, too.
