Literacy Volunteer Tutors Needed at the Livermore Public Library

Imagine being unable to understand a medicine label, fill out a job application, read to a child, or write a letter. These are just some of the challenges faced daily by English-speaking adults who struggle to read and write and English language learners working to improve their skills. Help make a difference by becoming a literacy tutor. No previous experience is necessary. Free tutor training is given by the Literacy department and after completing tutor training, volunteers are paired with an adult learner. Pairs typically meet at the local library once or twice weekly for one to two hours each meeting. The results are life changing for an adult who’s struggling and very rewarding for the teacher as well.

The next three-part Tutor Training session will take place on the following dates from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. at the Livermore Public Library’s Civic Center, 1188 South Livermore Ave., Livermore.

  • Monday, April 9th
  • Wednesday, April 11th
  • Monday, April 16th

(Please note: Participants must attend all three sessions.)
